2nd BOPALiM Webinar: Preparing case-study foundations for Accessible Transport (WG3)

Our 2nd webinar is delivered by Dr Thomas Morgenthaler and focuses on preparatory work for developing international case-studies about accessible public transport, with the goal of constructing a range of narrative vignettes to inform inclusive mobility solutions.

Work presented in this webinar was supported through a BOPALiM Task 3.3 Virtual Mobility grant for WG3. Over a three-month period, Thomas co-ordinated activities with contributors having different disciplinary backgrounds and laid the groundwork for a robust dataset of case-studies to be collected via a T3.3 survey launched in October 2025. This presentation also highlights how Early Career Researchers can meaningfully contribute to multidisciplinary research, while gaining transferable skills and build new capacities through COST Actions.

This webinar is hosted by our WG4 Leader, Dr Nikolas Thomopoulos, on 11th December 2025 at 13:30 – 14:00 CET.

Thomas Morgenthaler, PhD, MSc, BSc, is a European-trained occupational scientist and therapist specialising in inclusive outdoor play, school-based practice, and evidence-informed play space design. He recently graduated from a Marie Skłodowska-Curie-funded PhD on outdoor play environments, whilst he has developed tools to evaluate playground usability and play value. Thomas lectures across Europe, mentors students, and consults for the playground industry, blending research, teaching, and advocacy to promote meaningful participation for children and communities. In the COST Action BOPALiM, Thomas supports Task 3.3 of WG3 to develop vignettes about accessible public transport solutions and innovations.
