Calls and Grants

BOPALiM offers a series of grants to support Action and COST objectives. Here you can find out about Training School grants, STSMs, Virtual Mobility and conference grants.

Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs)

These scientific missions allow researchers involved in a COST Action to visit an institution or laboratory in any country in the world. 

We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2025 Call for BOPALiM STSM Grants. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, with two key cut-off dates for evaluation. Please note that up to 100% of the annual STSM budget may be allocated in the first round. Contact to confirm if any funds remain.

  • Cut-off dates for applications:  16th January 2026 5pm GMT and 16th May 5pm GMT 2026
  • Final date for completing STSM activities: October 5th, 2026

A visit to a host organisation for specific work to be carried out for a determined period of time

Anywhere in the world: host organisation must be in a different country than that of affiliation

Up to 4000 €

– Support the Action in achieving its objectives
– Help participants’ career development
– Help establishing new or reinforcing collaborations

Anyone affiliated to COST member countries and NNCs

Virtual Mobility Grants

Virtual Mobility Grants consist of collaboration in a virtual setting among researchers or innovators within a COST Action network to exchange knowledge and learn new methods and techniques.

We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2025 Call for BOPALiM Virtual Mobility Grants. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, with two key cut-off dates for evaluation. Please note that up to 100% of the annual VM budget may be allocated in the first round. Contact to confirm if any funds remain.

  • Cut-off dates for applications: 16th January 2026 5pm GMT and 16th May 5pm GMT 2026
  • Final date for completing VM activities: October 5th, 2026.

Anyone affiliated to COST member countries and NNCs

ITC Conference Grants

These grants support those from ITC countries and NNCs to give oral presentation attendance at international conferences not organised by BOPALiM.

We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2025 Call for BOPALiM ITC Grants. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, with two key cut-off dates for evaluation. Please note that up to 100% of the annual ITC budget may be allocated in the first round. Contact to confirm if any funds remain.

  • Cut-off dates for applications: first deadline  31st March 2026 5pm GMT and after that this call will stay CONTINUOUSLY OPEN, and selection of candidates will follow the method “first-in-first-evaluated”, until the end of the allocated budget or the grant period.
  • Final date for completing ITC activities: October 5th, 2026

A contribution for the overall effort

Support grantee for presenting their work and establish new collaborations

Any researcher or innovator affiliated in ITCs and NNCs

Oral presentation of own work of the researcher within the scope of the action.

Dissemination Conference Grants

COST Actions offer Dissemination conference grants. These grants support to Action participants for their participation in high-level conferences fully organised by a third party, to present the Action, their activities, and results (oral presentation) and for developing new contacts and potential future collaborations.

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, with two key cut-off dates for evaluation. Please note that up to 100% of the annual DC budget may be allocated in the first round. Contact to confirm if any funds remain.

  • Cut-off dates for applications: first deadline  31st March 2026 5pm GMT and after that this call will stay CONTINUOUSLY OPEN, and selection of candidates will follow the method “first-in-first-evaluated”, until the end of the allocated budget or the grant period.
  • In-person only, oral presentations with a maximum of £1500 per award
  • Final date for completing DC activities: October 5th, 2026..

Young Researcher and Innovator (YRI) Conference Grants

COST Actions offer YRI conference grants. These grants support Action participants (under 40 years of age) to present an oral presentation in high-level conference fully organised by a third party. The content of the presentation and conference subject must be within the scope of the Action.

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. Please note that up to 100% of the annual YRI budget may be allocated in the first round. Contact  to confirm if any funds remain. 

  • Cut-off dates for applications: first deadline  31st March 2026 5pm GMT and after that this call will stay CONTINUOUSLY OPEN, and selection of candidates will follow the method “first-in-first-evaluated”, until the end of the allocated budget or the grant period. 
  • You must have an accepted abstract to apply for this award.
  • In-person only, oral presentations with a maximum of £1500 per award
  • Final date for completing YRI activities: October 5th, 2026.
